As narrated by Maariah
One tiny smile at my hubby when Nemo spoke about babies, and all of them were already deciding names and how much time we would have to allow each of them to spend with him or her every week!
It was cute though and I am pretty sure that our baby would be a very lucky one indeed, except that there was no baby! I had smiled at Immy because we had spoken about it just that night and it was purely coincidental that the topic came up today.
I would love to have babies but right now, I was more looking forward to having a good holiday! The day after Aara’s wedding, Immy and I were booked for the Seychelles for a week and then we were off to Italy for ten days. I would be attending a 3 day culinary workshop so we decided to extend our stay. Who knows when we would be able to go again..
And with all the weddings one after the other, everyone was a little too zombified! And now with just one to go, life would then settle down again and everything would be back to normal.
After a mega blast karaoke night at Zoheb’s, courtesy of Zaeem, and two days of shuffling around with kunchas for the wedding , I was exhausted!
I smiled to myself as I folded Immy’s shirt…how amazing is life. I never thought that I’d be this happy, ever. But no matter what we do in our lives, the good and the bad, with sincere repentance, everything can change.
What will we be remembered for anyway? What do we leave behind? Do we want to be known for the wrong that we did or for rectifying it?
All our lives are an hourglass…and the sand is falling, slowly but surely…
As narrated by Laeeka :
Tiny streaks of sunlight streamed through the curtains, dancing across the glistening silver and white tiles of our bedroom. Our bedroom. How weird is that! I looked up at the ceiling and marvelled at it yet again. I don’t think that I would ever get tired of it! Riza had designed the ceiling to resemble a window and adorned it with down lights and optic lenses that bounced a variety of different colours of each other…erupting in a fusion of colours that changed according to the lighting of the room. It was a sight to behold and I found myself catching my breath a good few times already in the three days that we had been here.
We were fortune enough to have our own place and didn’t have to go to a hotel on the night that both of us were joined in nikah. Life has since then, been glorious!
I turned myself to face my adorable husband, as he lay peacefully in the land of dreams. His face looked so angelic when he slept that I didn’t have the heart to tickle him out of his slumber, and so I tiptoed out of bed, freshened up and made my way into my stunning kitchen.
And then I did what all of us do…lol…I started stalking everyone’s profiles and statuses
Zoheb….”Can Friday just be here already! ”
I chuckled to myself. Shame, he was missing Aara way too much!
Arshad…”When Mrs. Kazee treats me to breakfast in bed 💜”
Oh myyyy! Well done Zainab!
Nemo…” I hope you choke on those pancakes A! ”
Lmfao! I take it that Aara was eating pancakes made by Aunty Salma and she sent Nemo a picture of it….or probably of her hogging it!
Immy….”Wedding week!…Again 😂😂”
Lol! I feel you Immy!
And now what were my girls up to….
Zainab….#hubby #lovehimtobits #honeymoondays #newlymarried
Lolllll! Does Zainab know that this is Watsapp and not Instagram? ???
Maariah…”packing and planning for fun days ahead ”
Awww Maripops…They hadn’t had a chance to have a honeymoon because after they got married there was such drama in our lives!
Aara. …”Mom’s delicious pancakes!!!ALL FOR ME ”
I made myself a cup of coffee and skyped Aara. Within a few minutes, Aara was smiling back at me with a stuffed mouth!
“salaams sunshine! I missssss youuuuu! “, I laughed
“You pretty lil liar you! “,Aara grinned
And now it was my turn to grin..” is it that obvious…”
“I don’t blame you babe…enjoy every second of it “, Aara said, as she took another bite of her pancake and made my tummy rumble…
“It’s surreal Aara…. I didn’t know that it would be so so wonderful! If only I married him sooner ”
“Oolala “, she laughed, “the whole wife thing really suits you Laeeks! I mean look at you, you’re glowing !”
“Thank you thank you “, I said, batting my eyelashes, “so how’s everything going on your side with only two days left before your big day ”
” It’s going great actually, mom’s just fantastic and everything is coming together soooo beautifully”, she smiled, “i just can’t wait! ”
I laughed at her cheesiness…tough Aara was now as soft as a marshmallow!
“Nothing…you know that the glow is also on you hey”, I teased
Aara smiled, with sticky syrup on the edges of her lips, and reminded me of a five year old!
“Laeeks…” , she said softly…”I’m so worried about Nemo ”
“I know you are…but he’s a big boy Aara and I know for sure that he wouldn’t want you worrying about him when you’re about to get married ” ,I said, trying to reassure her when I was worried about the very same thing
“You know what I mean. ..”
I took a deep breath in. “I know Aara but…This is what is meant to be sweetheart, and you need to let go a little ”
“He’s going to be all alone and all of us are leaving for our honeymoons at the same time…”
“No need to worry about that Aaarooo “, I smiled, “Riza and I discussed it already, and we both decided that we would leave when all of you get back. He’s using the work excuse and so am I..”
Aara stared at me for a few seconds, and then smiled. She knew why we did it. And she knew that we did it from our hearts.
“Did you see what the Queen of Sandton wore to my wedding??”, I chuckled, trying to change the subject
The “Queen of Sandton” was a very distant cousin of mine, and none of us really liked her because she was so…HER!
“O My Gosh how could I not, I mean I think people living in the North Pole could see her dude…her outfit was SO bright!!”, Aara laughed
And within a few minutes we were discussing most of the ladies wedding outfits (bad, I know..but we couldn’t help it) laughing our heads off at some, and complementing those that were to die for!,when a familiar face on the other side of the screen winked at me and motioned for me not to say anything. And one by one, while Aara was talking to me, her pancakes started disappearing until there was nothing left. I laughed hysterically as he made bunny rabbit ears behind her head and ducked each time she turned to look behind her!
“Laeeka are you okay? “, Aara asked, raising her eyebrows at me
“No…not really “, I laughed
” BOOOOO! !!!”, he screamed behind her and Aara was so stunned that she fell off the barstool that she was sitting on!
As narrated by Nemo :
I know that I said that I would come only on Friday and that I didn’t want to be a part of Team Bride. But I couldn’t resist.
I still didn’t have the courage to give her away, nor did I have the strength to be a part of her team, but the thought of spending what will possibly be my last day with her as my best friend before she got married , is what made me impulsively fly down to Durban this morning.
And well Maa’s pancakes was a perfect bonus! I had updated my status not very long after I had landed, so no one suspected a thing!
I was here to surprise her but now I couldn’t stop laughing!!!! I laughed so hard that I couldn’t even help her to get off the floor because each time that I put my hand out to her , I would erupt into another fit of laughter!
“That’s very nice of you idiot! “, Aara scowled
“That was such a classic fall! ! How do you always just fall down???”, I said while STILL laughing
“Whatever “, she said, rolling her eyes at me
I laughed a little harder, before I finally made it to help her up, and then laughed again!
“Sorry”, I mumbled
“Haha…right”, Aara said, and looked at me with a fake angry face and then she too started laughing!
……but when she looked at her empty plate, I had to stick my fingers into my ears because I am pretty sure that her screams echoed throughout the whole of Durban North!
This last day was surely going to be epic!!!!
